製薬化学研究室（数理物質系化学域）・創薬化学研究室（国際統合睡眠医科学研究機構）では、創薬研究や創薬に関連する研究活動を行っています。創薬化学は、有機合成化学を中心に、医学、薬学、生化学、分子生物学、薬理学、薬物動態学、製剤学など多くの学問の上に成り立つ、大変やりがいのある研究です。
“君も薬を世に出せる！”は、2013年に前身の研究室（旧　長瀬研究室）が発足してから掲げている研究室スローガンです。創薬研究では、化学合成した分子を薬理評価し、その結果を分子設計に反映させて新たな分子を合成するといった一連のサイクルを繰り返すことで、薬の候補化合物の開発を目指します。企業や他大学との共同研究へ発展することも多いです。その他にも様々な研究を行っていますので、興味のある方は研究内容をご覧ください。
研究室内では、研究報告会の他、反応機構ゼミ、論文紹介、創薬ゼミ等の勉強会を行っています。また、国際統合睡眠医科学研究機構（IIIS）内の論文紹介や研究報告会にも英語で参加しており、神経科学や薬理学への理解を深め、国際交流も幅広く行っています。我々の研究室に興味を持った方は、是非、フォームよりお問い合わせください。

The Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory conducts drug discovery research and drug discovery-related research activities. Medicinal Chemistry is very challenging research that is based on many disciplines, including medical science, pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and drug formulation, with a focus on synthetic organic chemistry.
“You can offer “First-in-class Drugs” to patients!” has been our laboratory slogan since the establishment of our predecessor laboratory (The Nagase Laboratory) in 2013. In medicinal chemistry research, we aim to develop drug candidate compounds by repeating a series of cycles, such as pharmacological evaluation of chemically synthesized molecules and synthesis of new molecules based on the pharmacological results. Our research often develops into collaborative research with companies and other universities. In our laboratory, we hold research meetings such as reaction mechanism seminar, journal club, and drug discovery seminar, in addition to research progress meeting. We also participate in journal club and research progress meeting in the International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (IIIS) in English to deepen our understanding of neuroscience, pharmacology, and so on, and to engage in extensive international exchange.
